Service Tips for the Fall Season

Service Tips for the Fall Season

Autumn is a beautiful time of year in West Virginia, but it brings with it its own unique set of maintenance needs for your vehicle. If you plan on heading out for a foliage trip this year, or if you simply want to be confident that your ride will serve you capably into the winter ahead, take heed of the following maintenance tips.

The drop in temperatures can mean a drop in your tires' air pressure. Leaving your tires underinflated can result in greater wear and lower efficiency. Make sure that you are checking your pressure levels regularly and keeping all tires - including your spare - inflated to the level recommended in your owner's manual. While you're taking care of that, be sure that you are looking out for signs of wear, be it low tread levels, bumps, or cracking. If you haven't had your tires rotated in a while, autumn is a great time to get that done. You may also want to start thinking about whether you'll want winter tires or not.

Heating and cooling systems

The hot summer took a toll on your vehicle's HVAC system, so the turn of the season means that it is a great time to ensure that it's still in good working condition. At the same time, you'll want to make sure that your heating and defrosting are working so that you will have full visibility when the weather starts settling in on the colder side of things.

The coming of colder weather means that your battery will be working extra hard to keep your vehicle moving. If you want to avoid being left by the roadside when the temperatures are creeping toward single digits, take the early autumn to ensure that it has plenty of juice left. Mountaineer Lincoln can perform a battery test that will give you an idea of how much longer you'll have to go with your current battery. If it's been about five years since your last replacement, you may just want to go ahead and swap it out for a new one to be on the safe side.

These are just some of the many maintenance steps you can take to ensure that your vehicle is ready for both the autumn and the seasons beyond. To get these necessary services taken care of, stop into Mountaineer Lincoln.
